It is no longer news that the impact of Covid-19 is presently being felt across the entire world. The pandemic has affected so many things that were never planned. Social engagements have been affected, workers have lost their jobs(and still losing it), factories have closedown and families are battling hunger. All these are the attendant effects of Covid-19.
But taking a look at the challenges of the pandemic, there are so many lessons to also learn as individuals in a period like these.
The following are some of the lessons that we can learn during this period:
1. Be creative
A major thing that so many people are learning now is creativity in doing things. Most people that are used to doing things in the same way are now trying to be creative and learn new ways of improving in whatever they are doing. For people who are business owners and artisans it's a challenging time for them as customers are not ready to throw their money on something that is not extremely valuable to them. The only way to make people spend their money now is to be creative at what you do.
2. Embrace planning
A lot of people who fail to make serious plan for their finances have been caught unaware by the pandemic. Millions of people across the world never envisaged that such a thing like this will happen. Hence, there was no planning to respond to the so many challenges that Covid-19 has foisted on people. Everybody is now looking for alternative plan to survive.
3. Get skills
So many people are now acquiring skills that can provide alternative means of livelihood. Recently, I learnt about a teacher in a high school who started the production of hand sanitizers when there was scarcity of hand sanitizers in major marts and market in Ibadan, Oyo state few weeks ago. Though, trained as a teacher, she took a bold step to launch into an unknown area by taking advantage of the stay-at-home. While some other people are just doing nothing to add value to themselves, she is not only adding value to herself but providing value and making money from it.
4. Maximize your time
One of the lessons that I have personally learnt during this period is that time is a resource that we mustn't waste. Whatever we want to do must be done without wasting too much of time on it. Some important meetings-business meetings and social functions have been postponed indefinitely due to the pandemic. Some of these meetings already have financial commitment but cannot be held again for now. So, managing our time is a very important thing we must learn to do.
